Entertainment Center Part Two: The Big Picture

Last night I shared with you some up close shots of my newly painted and restyled entertainment center.  Today I thought I'd give you the big picture, so you can see how everything is pulled together!

I thought it would be fun to see what the piece looked like before:

Here's how I styled the great room shortly after renovations were completed around this time last year.  The entertainment center was a dark cherry brown and it was beautiful, despite quite a few scratches [it was a floor sample from Pottery Barn].

But for me, it was too traditional, and I already had so much brown furniture in this room [leather sofa and ottoman] so it was time for a change.  I wanted to choose a bright color, since this room is one of the darker spaces in the house [north facing].

I tested several colors and did some experimenting with color mixing and came up with this combination of Annie Sloan chalk paint: Provence [3 parts], Versailles [2 parts], and Aubusson Blue [1 part].  This mixture created a wonderful teal blue that I love!

The room feels completely refreshed and light and fun; exactly what I was going for! I love painting furniture for a living, but I have to say, it's even more fun when I get to enjoy [and keep!] the fruits of my labor.
